The Centrex 1000 composting toilet system is ideal for those who have electricity and want a unit for a light seasonal application. In light to medium seasonal use the Centrex 1000 is typically able to hold compost for the full season, and compost needs extraction only in the Spring.
The Centrex 1000 features a 260 watt heater in a sealed compartment under the unit and the standard Sun-Mar 35 watt turbo fan and 2″ vent stack to ensure odorless operation. All Centrex 1000 systems are supplied with a 1″ drain hose which should be connected to the 1″ drain at the bottom left of the unit.
The Centrex 1000 system is designed for use with the Ultra low flush toilets (purchased separately). This system can be converted to an AC/DC system using the AC/DC kit, purchased separately. Installations include, but are not limited to: cabins, cottages, homes, businesses, resorts, camps, treehouses and workshops

We purchased a Sun-Mar Centrex 1000 for our island camp in eastern Maine which has been happily established and composting
Since we were so pleased with that one, and feeling we needed to provide additional toilet facilities for larger groups visiting, we have installed this summer a new Sun-Mar Excel. This self-contained unit has gone into another small cabin adjoining a kitchen and bedroom.
CENTREX 1000 sits behind lattice that easily lifts off for access
The unit works very well and I extended the season by heating the air through a 3″ intake duct on a thermostat.
Our cabin is on a hillside, lots of rock and gravel. No place to put a septic system, even if we wanted one.
The ultra low-water flush toilet has a straight drop to the Centrex 1000 in a insulated, heated containment unit under the floor. A flip up door allows for turning the crank without total loss of heat for winter use, very dry year, lots of drywells, doesn’t worry us. The environment office suggested a compost unit when I called for a site inspection.
