The Compact is an elegant low profile unit with the looks to complement any bathroom. Sun-Mar engineers designed this low profile toilet by developing and patenting a new variable diameter Bio-drum which is small at the front and large at the rear.
To maintain the uninterrupted lines of the Compact, a patented Bio-drum handle recesses into the body of the unit to mix and aerate the compost.
The Compact differs from the Excel in that all three chambers are smaller, which makes the Compact ideally suited to light residential or light to medium cottage use. Installations include, but are not limited to: cabins, cottages, cabanas, pool houses, camps, treehouses and workshops.
Installation is straightforward—simply plug the unit into a standard 110V outlet and install the supplied 2″ vent stack according to the instructions in your supplied owner’s manual. This ensures proper ventilation while maintaining a sleek profile. Additionally, a 3/4″ emergency drain at the rear offers protection against heavy or residential use, or prolonged power outage.
One of the standout features of the Compact is its completely odor-free performance. And, unlike a conventional toilet, the Compact does not require plumbing or water to operate.

Inspecting Your Delivery

My partner and I live in a beautiful refinished barn in rural Oregon. It is not plumbed and the Sun-Mar composting toilet sits in a stall decorated with photos and hangings from all over the world. We have been so pleased to not have to trudge through the Oregon rain to an outhouse or up to our main house in the middle of the night! We have been impressed that the toilet can take our fairly consistent forgetfulness about emptying the drawer. In the two years we’ve had it, it has never smelled, nor caused a problem. What a miracle! We hope to build a larger community in the country eventually, and the houses will be peppered with your composting toilets.
